OCTOBER 2012

VOTE---NOVEMBER 6, 2012

ELECTION 2012

ELECTION HAVE CONSEQUENCES

What if one candidate could protect you job and the other one eliminate it?  Who would you vote for?

What if one candidate wanted to eliminate funding for Amtrak? Who would you vote for?

What if eliminating Amtrak funding caused a catastrophic collapse of the Railroad Retirement system?  Who would you vote for?

What if one candidate wanted to change your retirement system to be like Social Security?  Who would you vote for?

What if one candidate wanted to change Medicare to a voucher system?  Who would you vote for?

Elections have consequences-from the President to the local level.  At the national level there has never been a clearer line drawn in the sand.  President Obama has promised to continue funding for Amtrak and high speed rail-protecting our jobs in the future.  Not only would eliminating Amtrak funding cause 20,000 of our brothers and sister but the loss of those jobs would cause Railroad Retirement to have to restructure and affect each and every one of us and our pension-our families and our futures!

You will recall that the issue of one person crews was not discussed in the last round of National negotiations-why? Elections have consequences.  If Governor Romney wins the race to the White House do you not think every railroad will be at the door just waiting to get a one person crew in the next round of negotiations?  Can you take that chance for you and your family?

The Missouri State Legislative Board encourages you to vote for UTU endorsed candidates.  These candidates have a consistent voting record to protects our jobs, our families and our retirement.
