Winter weather has arrived. Are you prepared?

Ready.gov provides detailed information to prepare, including directions on creating home and auto emergency kits for winter weather.

Make sure you are prepared by completing this checklist:

Winter Weather Preparation Checklist

  • Around The House
    • Chimney cleaned and inspected
    • Fuel-burning equipment vented to the outside
    • Fire extinguishers accessible
    • Gutters clear
    • Tree branches that could fall on the home are trimmed back
    • Pipes are insulated
    • NOAA Weather Radio available and working
  • Car Emergency Kit
    • Car emergency kit includes
      • A shovel
      • Windshield scraper and small broom
      • Flashlight
      • Battery powered radio
      • Extra batteries
      • Water
      • Snack food
      • Matches
      • Extra hats, socks and mittens
      • First aid kit with pocket knife
      • Necessary medications
      • Blanket(s)
      • Tow chain or rope
      • Road salt and sand
      • Booster cables
      • Emergency flares
      • Fluorescent distress flag
